YEARS AND NOT ACTUAL PRODUCTION YEAR.
1972
With
a new distributor in St. Marys, Ontario and 1971 models sold out, production
of
the
1972 Northway models sold quickly and we were producing 50 sleds a day
on
two
8 hours shifts for a grand total of 6000 units.
Also
in 1972 we produced snowmobiles for Recreatives Inc. Out of Buffalo N.Y.
that
were
marketed in the U.S. with the name Sabre ( CLICK
HERE FOR PHOTO ) .
These
sleds were part of an exchange program with them ( Recreatives Inc ).
We
sold an Amphibious 6 wheeler and a Trike that they manufactured.
In
Canada the Northway name was used on these
vehicules
and gave us a 4 season line-up of toys.
All
models now used the Explorer name with a prefix such as N for narrow and
W
for widetrack with a choice of Kiekhaefer, Sachs, or CCW engines ranging
from
300 cc to 440cc and a 300cc Wankel .
The
440S came standard with a 2 headlamp dash that
was
also available as an option on all models.
After
completion of the 1972 production models it was
decided
to built a limited production Racer with a Rx440 Sachs.
Approximately
21 of these Racers were built.
