David - i Found some history on the Bear cat / Bearcat.
Talked to the son of one of the owners / builders of the Bear cat Snowmobile.
Your Bear cat, mine, and (1) other Polar Bear cat were all sold from a
Dealer in Olean NY. A man ( Frank ) was the one who use to make the delivery to
the Dealers from the shop in Oneida NY.  The main Office / dealer for them was just
North in Marcy NY on Rt - 49.

He said the only dealers for the Bear cat were in NY only.
The dealerships never made it out of NY.

They were all put together in a building the size of a (2) door garage.

If a customer wanted to pay a little extra for a
custom color, they would do it at a extra cost.

All the Chassis were made from a company called Apex,
which also made chassis for Arctic Cat and Roll-O-Flex.
They all used the Sport Series Hirth Motors with the Salsbury 850 clutch.

He said they all very good running machines.
His family was a Boa-Ski Dealer and a Roll-O-Flex dealer.
Boa-Ski made the early Roll-O-Flex for Roll-O-Flex until
1972-73 when Roll-O-Flex started to make there own snowmobiles.

Also- those hood vents on your Bear cat, all they are is a piece of air louver material
with a Marine industry  ring, remember they used to use those rings to run the
cables / fuel lines through on the outboards to prevent chaffing.

I asked Frank the total number of sleds that Bear cat ever made all together.
He said for sure under 300 but he is not sure himself.

I have been told by another source from a friend of the
family that no more than 100 ever made.

Frank said either way they are very rare to see today.

I am 1 of 2 people ever to contact him for information for a long time.
