WHAT IS YOUR SLED WORTH? PAGE 197

I GET EMAILS FROM OWNERS ASKING ME WHAT I THINK THEIR SLED IS WORTH.  THE WORTH OF A SLED DEPENDS ON MANY FACTORS SUCH AS - APPEARANCE - CONDITION - MILEAGE - ACCIDENTED - IS THE MOTOR STUCK - TRACK CONDITION - RARE MODEL - STORED OUTSIDE / INSIDE -  ORIGINAL - HAVING TRANSFER PAPERS AND SO ON.

I CREATED THESE PAGES TO GIVE BUYERS AND SELLERS A LOOK AT SLEDS THAT HAVE RECENTLY SOLD ON EBAY WITH THEIR DESCRIPTION. THIS IS NOT TO BE USED AS AN ACCURATE PRICE LIST OF A SLEDS WORTH BUT AS A GUIDE TO SHOW YOU WHAT OTHER PEOPLE HAVE BEEN ABLE TO SELL OR BUY A SLED FOR ON EBAY.

JUST REMEMBER - SOMETIMES ON EBAY - 2 BIDDERS DRIVE A SLED'S PRICE WAY UP OVER THE TRUE VALUE BECAUSE THEY BOTH WANT IT AND THEN SOMETIMES A SLED CAN SELL ON EBAY FOR A LOT LESS THAN
TRUE VALUE BECAUSE OF THE TIME OF YEAR IT WAS POSTED OR THE WAY THE PERSON POSTED THE AD.

THIS GUIDE IS IN NO WAY INTENDED TO TELL YOU THE WORTH OF A SLED.  AFTER ALL  A SLED IS WORTH ONLY WHAT THE BUYER IS WILLING TO PAY FOR IT. I AM POSTING THIS GUIDE AS A SERVICE AND NOTHING ELSE.
I CANNOT TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE PRICE YOU BUY OR SELL YOUR SLED AT. THAT IS TOTALLY
YOUR DECISION.  GOOD LUCK.

I DO NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE YEAR POSTED WITH THE SNOWMOBILE.
SOMETIMES - PEOPLE POST THE WRONG YEAR.

HERE IS HOW THIS AD READ ON EBAY.

Vehicle Description

This is a restored and obviously unique piece of american snowmobiling.  It's powered by a 440 cc CCW (Canadian Curtis Wright) engine and the machine has been completely rewired and has a new battery. The machine runs great and operates perfectly but I did not touch the engine other than to tune it when I found it. Several Aircraft type toggle switches are multi-colored and control operations of lights, ignition etc. and includes a cigarette lighter in the dash which came OEM. The restoration involved splitting the machine in half (the top is attached to the bottom via pop rivets which are obviously new) and I replaced the rubber bumper piece (the rubber was extremely expensive) that circles the entire body.

The machine is a uni-body fiberglass like a dune buggy of the era and has no upholstered seats.  I'm 6' 2"  185 lbs. and can get in and operate the machine but it's cramped.  It's a dual track machine which steers primarily from lever action that brakes the track in the direction you want to go just like a bulldozer. Turn the wheel left and the left track locks up and makes the machine go left.  Obviously the steering is tied into the whole system and the skis turn as well to help out.  I fabricated a spline to accept a sprint car type quick release steering wheel that pops off with two fingers leaving just the end of the steering column. The quick release wheel is not just cool but significantly improves space and mobility getting in and out of the machine.  You can also steer the machine without the wheel via two directional pedals located similar to brake and clutch pedals.  Also, you can remove the skis from the spindles with one nut and put the wheels on it to run it around without snow.  I've done it and it acts fine without snow because of the dozer capabilities. I understand that the machine is amphibious but haven't tried nor recommend it!  I also restored a ski trailer to be towed behind the tracker to carry "provisions". The machine and trailer are painted a matching retro gold metalflake (not original color) and when this thing is on the snow on a sunny day you almost need a welding helmet to look at it. It was professionally painted in a booth and the color is stunning. The most fun I've had with it is taking it to winter carnivals and the like. It pretty much doesn't matter what else is there, the Tracker draws a crowd to the point where I can't get to it to leave. Get in with a friend with the trailer in tow and drive away and sit back to take in the crowd reaction. It's priceless. The camcorders and cameras make you think you're on the red carpet! It's safe to say that the fun is not so much on the trail (it's 54" wide) but cruising (it's not fast but I'd say it goes close to 30 mph across the field or lake at an event) it goes surprisingly fast.
